There seem to be divergent opinions about the legality / illegality of using sci-hub.tw. See pp22 et seq. of the publication "ENJOINING NON-LIABLE PLATFORMS" by Maayan Perel. A free download available at https://bit.ly/2Y5naum. Part of the conundrum is apparently as follows: If a crime was committed, where was it committed and under which judicature could prosecution take place.

I speculate that the author would not object to a request to make the publication available for debate in this forum.
